Common electrical upgrades include replacing old fuse boxes with modern consumer units featuring RCD protection (required by 18th Edition Wiring Regulations), rewiring properties with cloth-covered or rubber-insulated cables (common pre-1960s), upgrading earthing and bonding to current standards, installing additional sockets and USB outlets, upgrading lighting circuits and switches, installing smoke and carbon monoxide alarms (required by law), and adding electric vehicle charging points.
